— Winter Sessions There’s this strange thing that happens when I’m editing outdoor sessions. If it’s winter and I’m editing something I shot in the summer, I can almost feel the warmth on my skin just by watching the sun’s rays play back in a photo or video. It’s like I’m immediately transported to that […]
Downtown Anchorage Photos Megan and Gus are just about the loveliest people you ever did meet. Within 5 minute of meeting Gus, he already called me ma’am and my heart just about burst at the earnest pleasantry! A gentle blanket of blue-grey clouds settled in above as we walked the path to The Port of […]
The Case For Urban Beauty In Anchorage We live in the most drop-dead gorgeous state in all the land. Every time I drive south on the Turnagain Arm I can feel the majesty of the mountains pulsing through my veins. I stand in awe of Alaska’s natural landscape on a daily basis. But that’s not […]
Danielle & Ben met on a remote job site in Alaska studying birds for the summer. Their first months were spent amidst swamps and mosquito nets talking about bugs and baby birds. When I asked them to tell me the story of how they first met, it was clear how their love of feathered creatures permeated much of the way they interacted.
If you’ve been around a hot minute, you know that urban sessions make my heart SING. I cut my teeth on the work of portrait photographers based in big cities and studying their work taught me to the love an urban landscape. Because of that, I’m always open to anyone who will let me photograph them in the heart of our city.
I got to know Geliah & Brian when I had the privilege of shooting their wedding film last fall. I came to enjoy their company so readily as they are two people who are just so genuinely themselves. They are a balance of fire and water, urban and nature. For our session together, we decided to split our time to celebrate both sides. I felt real grateful we got to reconnect this fall for these portraits to celebrate their one year anniversary.
If you’re here and didn’t catch Part I of Kendall and Sean’s engagement session, go check it out here. All you other yay-hoos, welcome to Part II! One outfit change, a trip down Turnagain Arm and we were off to the second half of our engagement session with completely new looks, light, and scenery. (Side […]
There’s something so lovely about a bright yellow fall. It’s like living in a coloring book where a 5 year old has picked all the shades just because they are the most fun. I like the yellow that comes out in the fall and I liked getting to shoot in it with these two honeys. […]
In early April of this year I was lucky enough to be able to visit my dear friends Lea and Austin in Minneapolis. Not too long ago, they purchased their first house just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the neighborhood where Lea and I met nearly seven years ago. Different homes have […]
— Being a photographer in Alaska has certainly taught me to love every season and the varying beauties they each bring forth. The summer for its greens and late night golden sun, the winter for its midday delicious light, the fall for its fleetingly extraordinary colors. There’s even beauty in the transitions. I’ve learned to […]
