The Case For Urban Beauty In Anchorage

We live in the most drop-dead gorgeous state in all the land. Every time I drive south on the Turnagain Arm I can feel the majesty of the mountains pulsing through my veins. I stand in awe of Alaska’s natural landscape on a daily basis. But that’s not what I’m here to talk about today. Today I wanna talk about the beauty of this city I call home – a little cutie named “Anchorage.”

I Cut My Teeth On Urban Things

As a budding creative, I fell in love with the work of a Seattle-based photographer Andria Lindquist. Andria brings a uniquely sensual perspective to every little corner of her city and lovingly framing her subjects within it. Her urban-centric style heavily influenced my love affair for shooting in urban environments.

I’ve always caught beauty where others miss it. While none of us can deny the grandeur of our natural surroundings, I can’t help but also be entranced by the man-made beauty I see around Anchorage. There is so much magic hidden in plain sight around this city and I wanna share it with you! I’m here to make a very enthusiastic case for urban beauty in Anchorage! Do you see what I see?

See what I mean? There’s so much more in this town than meets the eye! It may not be as obvious as the mountains (and don’t get my wrong, I still love shooting in the mountains!) But there’s something so special to me about the shooting in the city. I’ve made some of my favorite work during urban photo sessions. All it takes from you is a little trust.

I live downtown and know this area like the back of my hand. For urban shoots, my favorite thing is picking a block where we start and wandering to see what beauty we can find from there. Here’s a few locations that have caught my eye lately..

I dig these shoots so much, and because of that I’m offering a special on them for the month of June. One hour sessions normally start at $595, but for any urban session (solo, couples, families) booked in the month of June…

$400 includes:
– pre-session consult
– 1 hour urban photo session
– photo reveal with musical slideshow
– 30-40 high resolution photos
– online gallery + print shop
– print release

I will be booking these shoots on weekday evenings. Mini shoots downtown are also available for June. They are $300 and include a 30 minute shoot at a location of my choosing and 15 high res files delivered via an online gallery. Contact me for booking details!
