St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Wedding In Seward Alaska

Seward has always held my heart and just might be my favorite place in all of Alaska. There’s a certain serenity in this small seaside town at the end of the road. I was beyond excited that Melissa & Chris had me down to photograph their wedding last summer. They even had me come early to photograph family photos on the beach and a backyard party the day before. It was such a joy to photograph this family and this wedding. ♥️

These two were married in the most beautiful red chapel on an reliably cloudy day in Seward. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, Melissa shared with me just how excited she was to be getting married in the 100+ year old St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. She expressed how meaningful it was when she thought about all the people that had come before their to worship their God on the hill by the sea.

One of the things that stuck with me about this wedding was the unbridled presence of children. While many try to control the mayhem of kids on a wedding day, Melissa & Chris welcomed the chaos and unpredictability that tiny humans bring. Even with a juice box in his hand, Melissa held her youngest son to comfort him while she was getting buttoned into her dress. That same son fell asleep right before the ceremony and instead of passing him off to relative, Chris held him in his arms as Melissa walked down the aisle. The love these two have for each other, for their family, and for their community was so evident.
