A Powerful Day at the Studio

Everyone comes into their boudoir shoot feeling differently. Some are nervous and some excited. It’s pretty cool though when someone comes in with a sense of power. I can’t speak for MacKenzie as to whether she consciously felt that on the day we shot together. But it was just something about her internal energy. Because of our chat before her shoot, I knew that she was in a season of reclaiming ownership over her body in the wake of all the changes brought on by motherhood. And that’s the thing. She didn’t want to run away from those changes, but rather embrace them and boldly claim them for herself.

That’s what I love most about the women who come to me for boudoir. They don’t come to look different or be photoshopped into something they’re not. They come to celebrate themselves, exactly as they are. Even if they’re not totally there yet mentally – they take a leap of faith, knowing that boudoir will be a step towards greater self-love. They come into my studio, trust the process, and allow me to reframe the way they see themselves. And because of that, I get to show them all of the beauty I see in the body standing in front of me.

Here’s what MacKenzie had to say about her shoot..

“I had such an amazing experience with Lauren doing my first boudoir session. She offered to help me narrow down my outfit choices and had such a calming presence. My biggest worry was that I’d feel uncomfortable posing in lingerie or even naked and those fears quickly subsided during the course of our session. Lauren maintained an air of openness and acceptance that made it easy for me to be myself regardless of what I was wearing or how I thought I looked. My entire boudoir shoot with Lauren was extremely empowering and I would 10/10 recommend it to anyone considering a boudoir experience.”

I’m also just so freaking delighted anytime anyone lets me photograph nudes for them. Lingerie is so damn fun, but nothing beats the absolute majesty of the human form. I usually photograph nudes towards the end of the session so that we can work our way down layer by layer until you feel comfortable enough to bare all.
