One of the things I love about this job is the opportunity it affords me to connect with old friends. Christine & I used to take photo class together back in high school. I was thrilled when she reached out to me years later to tell me she was planning her wedding and wondered if I might be available to photograph it.

CHRISTINE & AUSTIN
Christine & Austin are two people who know how to get down and I appreciate that about them. You can see their playful energy come through in their portraits, in the way they dance and interact with their friends. If I’m honest, celebrating with them was just really damn fun. Their lively wedding at Crow Creek Mine came on a rainy day in Girdwood, as the days in Girdwood often are. But under the safe covering of a clear tent, their parade was undampened.

THE FLORALS
Joy from MyLords Floral really knocked it out of the freaking park with all the flowers, especially these unique floral hoops each of the bridesmaid’s carried. I loved the color palette of this whole wedding, so rich with the maroons and pinks and that pop of yellow, mmm delicious!

THE BREAD, THE SALT, & OCZEPINY
As Christine’s family is Polish, the couple incorporated two Polish wedding traditions into their wedding reception, The first was the bread and salt blessing. The parents of the bride present the couple with bread to symbolize prosperity and a wish they may never go hungry. The salt symbolizes the challenges they will face and a blessing to overcome them. The second is called “Oczepiny.” During this ritual, the bride exchanges her veil for a flower crown symbolizing her transition from single into married life.
