I was potting a lettuce plant outside of my apartment the first time I met Ryan. Back when they were just “hanging out,” he and Hailey, my housemate at the time, rode their bikes up the driveway after an evening cycle and started chatting with me as I continued to create a little concrete garden for our stoop.  

Hailey and I shared that house for almost two years. Little did either of us know that the friendly man in bike shorts would be the fella she’d end up marrying on an overcast day some months later in his parent’s backyard.

 I have and will always love the intimacy of little backyard weddings. Everywhere you turn, there is something meaningful- not only about the day itself but about the space that envelopes it.

I am grateful Hailey & Ryan let me be a part of theirs.
