It was humid day in the rain forests of Alaska. The fallen pine needles stuck to the soles of our shoes as we made our way down to the falls.
They planted their feet on that rock and joined hands.
As their two legged son and other four legged children looked on, they spoke to each other as partners who knew each other, truly. They had brought a baby into the world, seen him through 28 long days in the NICU, bought a house, and gone through life together. And so this day was meaningful. The water behind rushed too loud for me to hear their words, but I saw their tears and heard their laughter.
It was a real life day. Full of real life love.
Quiet, intimate, and true.
When they decided to get married, they knew they wanted to do it in a way that was true to themselves. They settled on a quiet elopement, but Lindsey knew her guy had a thing in his heart for celebrating their love with a party, in the company of all their friends. And so, she surprised him.
I was privileged to be there when they had there baby and lucky to be there again for such a milestone day.
They know I love them, but this is public delaration of thanks to you, Lindsey & Corwyn, for including me in your lives with such willingness and trust.
