I am a Caucasian woman full of the blood of my distant European ancestors. A little Irish, a bit German, a tad Welsh.
And while each of these offer a rich culture in and of themselves, I’ve always savored being submersed in cultures beyond my own.
There is a beautiful reverence for wisdom and a stewardship of the earth that I truly respect within Alaska Native culture. Last October, they gathered to discuss how to take care of their people and their land and to honor those who had succeeded in excellence doing just that.
And this is what it looked like.
Day 1 – the morning of commencement.
Day 1 – the evening of the Jam Jam. Jamming to groovy tunes sampling the best jams around.
Day 2 – the presentation of awards.
Thank you ATCEM for the pleasure of being with you.
