John Michael O’Laughlin thought he’d give his cousin’s boyfriend a swift kick in the pants towards popping that question and created National Proposal Day.

Which happens to be today.

So maybe Johnny was a little ambitious. But if it gives us a moment to look back at these stories, I don’t care.

It ain’t about the ring. It ain’t about things going according to plan. Whether your knees are down on the rocks of the bank or you sit through nine whole innings just waiting to ask ya’ girl, it’s the question that matters. It’s the primary yes to all the other yes’s that come as your dedicate your time, your love, and your energy to your partner. And if you find someone who will join in wholeheartedly with a resounding, “hell yes”, well then my friend, you are surely blessed.
