One month ago I left my home in Alaska behind and got on a plane homeward bound to a home of a different kind.
Minneapolis, MN.
This is part one. This is Lexey and Josh.
Coming off of nearly 5 years serving on staff at a discipleship school, Lexey moved back to her hometown of Shakopee and took up her old job at Caribou Coffee. Taking a few months to make money and prep before moving to Honduras, her life settled into a groove of normalcy she hadn’t grown so accustomed to in past years.
Cue Bible study.
Enter Josh.
“So how did you meet him?” I asked one day as she, with oh so many giggles, told me of about the date she was going on that night. “Well…fifth grade,” she says. From elementary school classmates to real live boyfriend and girlfriend more than 10 years later.
As we enjoyed $5 burger night at Applebees I got to know Josh better, hear his story and see his love for Lexey spill over his words as he told me every reason I should trust him for being with her.
He is unashamed of his love for her, he is consistent and committed. He is ever learning and leading her closer to Jesus as His faith grows in God.
She is wise and full of mercy. She has known lovers who were not such things and now she has him.
I got to spend 3 un-interrupted days with them and watch her get loved and watch him in love. Loving her so much already, it was not hard for me to love Josh. They are apart now, with him still in Shakopee and her in Honduras (still enjoying many a Skype dates to have dinner together and watch Catfish).
But for now, we’ll flashback to January.
This is them together.
Nice set of pictures!
Lauren, I have said it before and I’ll say it again, YOU ARE SO TALENTED! This whole blog post is precious. I think I fell more in love with Lex&Josh while reading and scrolling.
Personal laughing favorites= bear riding.
Thank you Phoebe & Rob!
